Ada Bulldogs girls soccer shut out at Delphos St. John’s

DELPHOS __The visiting Ada High School girls soccer team lost a 1-0 nailbiter to non-league foe Delphos St. John’s Monday evening, September 9.
The Bulldogs dropped to 5-2 with the defeat.
DSJ, which competes in the Western Ohio Soccer League, improved to 4-3 after the victory.
The Blue Jay goal came off a scramble in front of the net that the Bulldogs were unable to clear out in time.
“Sometimes teams just have a bad night,” said Ada head coach Doug Dewese. “Delphos has an experienced team, and we knew going in scoring was going to be hard.
“We also had some key injuries that didn’t help our cause,” he continued. “Any other day I think we win, but last night was just an off night for almost the entire team. You can’t win games when that happens.”
Bulldog freshman keeper Emily Gibson saved a season-high 20 shots on goal.
The immediate schedule only gets harder. The Ada girls (0-1 NCOSA) play at tough league foe Riverdale (5-2, 1-0 NCOSA) Thursday in game four of a five-game road swing.
Ada then visits former Northwest Conference foe Columbus Grove (6-0-1) Saturday. Unbeaten Grove beat Allen East 3-1 Monday. Ada topped AE 5-2 August 24.
