ONU women's soccer falls 2-0 to No. 3 Washington & Lee (Va.)
LEXINGTON, Va. — The Ohio Northern women's soccer team fell 2-0 to No. 3-ranked Washington & Lee in the Second Round of the NCAA III Tournament on Sunday afternoon.
The Basics
Records: Ohio Northern (15-6-1 Overall), Washington & Lee (20-1-1 Overall).
Venue: Alston Parker Watt Field — Lexington, Va.
The Match
The Generals scored in the 26th minute and again in the 37th minute.
Senior Julia Flanagan (Dublin/Watterson) led Ohio Northern with two shots.
Sophomore Emma Gramke (Dayton/Centerville) had five saves in goal for ONU.
WLU out-shot ONU 16-5 and had a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Notables
Ohio Northern is making its seventh NCAA III Tournament appearance.
The Polar Bears are 8-4-2 all-time in NCAA Tournament play, including a 1-5-1 record in Second Round matches.
This was the first meeting between the two teams in the history of Ohio Northern women's soccer.
The Polar Bears secured their 21st consecutive winning season this year.
Senior Alyssa Beckett (Monroe) led the team with 11 goals to go with 25 points and three assists.
Fifth-year senior Jill Roberts (Bellbrook/Carroll) led the team with 26 points and eight assists to go along with nine goals.
This is the 37th season of Ohio Northern women's soccer. The Polar Bears are now 443-219-57 all-time in program history.
Second-year head coach Ben Tierney is now 25-15-2 at Ohio Northern.
