Ada-Liberty EMS trustees establish billing for some no-transport calls
By Paula Pyzik Scott
The Ada-Liberty EMS has taken measures to help cover the expense of some calls for service that do not result in transport to a medical facility. In these cases, insurance cannot be billed.
The board of trustees has also responded to Washington Township declining a service proposal. Orange Township has such an agreement with compensation for services provided by Ada-Liberty EMS.
In August 2024, the board of trustees passed a measure establishing a fee in the following circumstances: “A fee for calls resulting in a no transport on the sixth no-transport call in a calendar year (January -December). Calls from within the Ada-Liberty Joint Ambulance District's territory will be charged $125.00 per incident over five no-transport runs and calls from outside of the District's territory will be charged $300.00 per incident over five no-transport runs.”
On December 16, the board approved a measure that will result in charges of $300 to Washington Township for each EMS run that does not result in transportation to a medical facility. Chief Tom Miller noted that crews do not know if a call will result in a transport until the individual is assessed.
