Jerry Lynn Patton served in the U.S. Marine Corps
Jerry Lynn “Rough Cut” Patton, age 75, beloved father and grandfather, passed away surrounded by his family on Friday, March 14, 2025 at 4:36 p.m. at his home in Harrod.
He was born on October 1, 1949 in Lima, Ohio to the late James and Maxine (Combs) Patton. On December 19, 1970, Jerry married Peggy Christine (Lusk) Patton. Peggy preceded him in death on May 27, 2019.
Jerry is survived by his daughter: Tricia (Andrew) Wanamaker of Harrod; a granddaughter: Maggie C. Wanamaker; two brothers: Doug (Karen) Patton of Van Wert and Dorvil (Kay) Patton of Harrod; three sisters: Connie (Willie) Music, Bonnie (Tom Steed) Patton and Sharon (Leonard) Woods all of Lima; brother and sister-in-law: Rick and Linda Stoermer of Harrod; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Also preceding Jerry in death is his son, Philip Patton; brother, Tommy Patton; pet Lily “Fatbelly”; brother and sister-in-law: Doug and Pat Reed; and great nephew, Gavin Reed.
Jerry retired from Ford Motor Company of Lima after thirty-eight years. He later retired from Allen East High School, where he worked as a custodian. Jerry was a member and Harmonica Shredder for the Praise and Worship team at Quickstep Pentecostal Church of God, Alger. He was a service member and decorated veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving from 1968 to 1970 during the Vietnam War, receiving the Cross of Gallantry. Jerry was an avid fisherman, hunter, groundskeeper and weedwhacker connoisseur. His favorite thing to do was to be where his granddaughter Maggie was and never miss her sporting events.
Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Ada with Rev. James Gatchell officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Marine Corp Honor Guard and the Ada VFW Post #9381 Honor Guard.
Visitation will be held three hours prior to the service on Saturday, March 22 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Ada.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Quickstep Pentecostal Church of God, P.O. Box 440, Alger, Ohio 45810 and/ or the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517 and/or Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, P.O. Box 38, Ada, Ohio 45810 for the benevolence of the family.
