ONU's Burger finishes 2nd at Heidelberg Women's Golf Invitational

TIFFIN - The Ohio Northern women's golf team opened its spring season on Friday with a fourth place finish at the Heidelberg Invitational.
The Basics
Ohio Northern finished fourth of four teams with a 60-over par 348 on the 5819-yard, par-72 course.
Bluffton won the team title with a 327, Tiffin's "B" team was second with a 341 and Heidelberg was third with a 345.
ONU Season Record: 29-14.
Venue: Mohawk C.C. - Tiffin.
ONU Individuals
Senior Amelia Burger (Centerville) led the Polar Bears by finishing second of 29 golfers with a 6-over par 78
Junior Marisa Alfes (Bellbrook) and freshman Taylor Blackburn (Liberty Township/Lakota West) tied for 12th with 88s.
Freshman Mallory Meister (Milan/Edison) was 18th with a 94.
Freshman Stella Burns (Medina) tied for 22nd with a 100.
Notables
This was the first of three regular season tournaments that Ohio Northern is scheduled to participate in this spring prior to the OAC Championships April 25-27.
Thus far this season, Burger and Alfes share the team lead with 80.6 averages for 12 and 13 rounds, respectively.
Ohio Northern was schdeuled to co-host the Polar Beaver Classic with Bluffton Friday and Saturday, but the tournament was cancelled due to unplayable course conditions.
Head coach Chad Bucci is 507-309-2 in his 11th season at the helm of the ONU women's golf team, a winning percentage of .621.

The Polar Bears will return to action Sunday and Monday when they host the Jimmy Hanlin Collegiate Invitational in the Cleveland area.
