Dennis “Denny” Eugene Covault worked for the Lima Refinery

Dennis “Denny” Eugene Covault, 72, of Harrod, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, April 17, 2025. He was born December 24, 1952, to the late Richard and Gloria (Hollar) Covault. On August 30, 1974, on he married Louise Ballinger, who survives in Harrod.

Also surviving are three children: Nikki (Josh) Metcalf of Dover, Josh (Jenny) Covault of Harrod, and Natalie (Shawn) Sommers of Harrod; eleven grandchildren-Madilyn, Jackson, Jaden, Blake, Brody, Jaden, Colt, JJ, Joey, Jamisen and Savannah and one great grandson Marlon; two brothers David (Linda) Covault and Richard (Marsha) Covault; and two sisters: Kathy Quigley and Tina McKinnie.

Denny was a 1971 graduate of Elida High School, where he participated in baseball, basketball and cross country. He attended Northwest Business College and retired from the Lima Refinery. He was a member of Lima First Assembly of God, where he always strived to bring honor to his Lord by being a Godly example to others. He displayed his faith in all phases of his life.

Denny loved his family and took pride in his grandchildren. He enjoyed coaching and watching his children/grandchildren play sports. Over the years, he coached his children and grandchildren’s sports teams, including AAU and High School Basketball teams. “Pappy” was his grandchildren’s biggest supporter in all areas of their life.

Denny loved to travel with his wife of 50 years, where they prided themselves on finding new restaurants. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, where he was always at the center of a Euchre card game. He equally loved camping, boating, golfing and rooting for the Duke Blue Devils.

Denny was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on this earth was one marked by love, helping others, and unwavering faith in God. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him. We ask that you remember him not for the way his life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
