Ada’s Bassitt 1st team All-Ohio; 5 Bulldogs earn all-district honors

By Cort Reynolds

Capping off a stellar career, Ada senior softball standout Jenna Bassitt was voted first team Div. VI All-Ohio in 2025 by the Ohio High School Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association (OHSFSCA).

She became the first Bulldog softball player ever to be named first team all-state. She made second team All-Ohio in 2024.

Ada third baseman Maddie Gossard and catcher Sydney Newland were previously named second team all-state from the 2018 district title squad.

As a pitcher this spring, Bassitt earned every Ada decision as she led the Bulldogs to a 22-5 record and the Div. VI regional finals. She shattered her own 2024 record for wins in a season (17) with 22 victories.

Bassitt struck out 196 batters over 155 innings with just 42 walks in 2025. Her earned run average was 1.20.

The leadoff hitter also batted a whopping .512 and led Ada in runs scored (38) and in on-base pct. (.576). She led the team in hits (43) and stolen bases (25). She also launched two home runs, drilled 11 doubles and legged out a pair of triples.

Bassitt set school Ada career records for pitching wins (58) and strikeouts (707), and is at or near the very top in total runs scored, hits and steals. She batted over .500 in all four of her seasons.

Bassitt was voted first team all-district three times from 2023-25. She was also named first team all-league in each of her four years, including three years in the Northwest Conference and this past season as a new member of the Blanchard Valley Conference.

Slugging Ada senior catcher Natilyn McClain was named first team all-district and earned honorable mention All-Ohio notice. The steady backstop slugged a team-high nine home runs in 2025 and drove in 40 runs with 40 hits. McClain batted a strong .471 and posted an OBP of .494.

McClain scored 26 runs and swatted 11 doubles to go with three triples. She racked up 23 extra-base hits this spring.

A four-year starter behind the plate, McClain was an honorable mention all-district selection in 2024. She hit five homers as a junior, including a grand slam in a tournament win over St. Henry.

Senior center fielder Tess Griffith was the third Bulldog named first team all-district. She smacked three home runs and drove in 25 runs on 37 hits. She cracked nine doubles, including four in one game. Griffith authored a batting average of .416 with a .436 OBP, and she scored 24 runs.

Sophomore third/second baseman Reese Jordan was voted second team all-district. Jordan ripped 33 hits, batted .458, hammered 11 doubles and smoked one triple. She was second on the team in OBP at .524 and scored 23 runs.

Senior middle infielder Karley Wagner made honorable mention all-district. Wagner batted a robust .462 and posted a .521 OBP. She stroked 30 hits with two doubles and one home run despite playing through hamstring and ankle injuries much of the season.

She tallied 25 runs and played strong defense all season.

Ada’s accomplished five-player senior class of Aidra Preston, Bassitt, McClain, Griffith and Wagner led the program to a 61-30 record over their four seasons together, including a 56-16 mark the past three years.

Preston also batted .333 and led the team in doubles with 12.

The Bulldogs put together a program-record 12-game win streak in 2024, and fashioned a 10-game home win string in 2025.
