Matchup of past, present Ada HS girls soccer players
By Cort Reynolds
ADA – Several Bulldog girls soccer players of the recent past and current vintage squared off on a wet field for the annual alumni vs. varsity game Friday, July 25, in War Memorial Stadium.
It rained hard about an hour before game time, making the synthetic turf slick but also dropping the temperatures to about 79 degrees as the sun disappeared.
Neither team scored in the first 20-minute quarter. Alumni goalkeeper Katie Sizemore made several good diving and sliding saves to keep the game scoreless.
Former Bulldog scoring ace and current Heidelberg player Ella Marshall had a couple good chances to score from short range on the left side, but was turned back by a nice save and the wet turf.
Powerful Ada sophomore Rose Baxter finally dented the back of the net with 9:17 left in the second period to make it 1-0, and the score remained that way after two quarters.
Among the alumni players competing with Marshall and Sizemore were Olivia Burkhart, Karley Wagner, Kailey Wagner, Jena Rodrigues and Lexi Poling.
Some of the current Ada players participating were Baxter, Alyssa Nau, Jordyn Smith, Kenley Poling, Reese Jordan, Emma Lambdin, Emily Shanks, Lynkin McDougle, Shay Smith, Chloe Hunsicker, Avary Acheson, Maire Boulanger and Charleigh Entinghe.
