Ada hosts Ft. Jennings on Aug. 20

CONVOY – The visiting Ada High School girls soccer team dominated Crestview to the tune of 6-0 on Monday evening, August 18.

The Bulldog girls jumped ahead 4-0 at halftime as sophomore Avary Acheson netted the first goal, then assisted on the next three scores.

“It was a good confidence-building win,” said fourth-year Bulldog girls head coach Doug Dewese. “Our bench got a lot of work in and stepped up to the challenge with some good games out of Charleigh Entinghe, Emma Lambdin and Piper Wallace, to name a few.”

Acheson scored first on an assist from senior Kenley Poling at the 33:15 mark of the first half.

Acheson then assisted Alex Gibson for the second goal at the 26:21 juncture.

Poling found the back of the net on another assist from Acheson to extend the margin to 3-0 with 3:07 left in the first half.

Freshman Maycie Dewese converted an Acheson corner kick by heading in the fourth goal with 84 seconds left in the first half. 

Aubry Jordan scored just 67 seconds into the second half from a Gibson feed to continue the onslaught. 

Gibson added the final tally from a Shay Smith pass with 11:14 remaining to make it 6-0.

“Reese Jordan moved to the center-back position and has been a solid defender for us,” Dewese noted. 

Acheson enjoyed a career night with a goal and three assists.

“Our starters did their job, and we got goals off the bench from Aubry and Maycie, and an assist from Shay,” said Dewese.

Ada out-shot the Knight girls, 25-5. Bulldog sophomore goalkeeper Emily Gibson made four stops in goal to earn the whitewash.

“It was also nice to have another school record set: keeper Emily Gibson got her seventh career shutout–as a sophomore–to break the career mark she shared with Katie Sizemore after last season,” Dewese noted.

Ada hosts Ft. Jennings (0-1) on Wednesday, August 20 in the home opener at 5 p.m. in War Memorial Stadium. FJ lost 6-0 to Coldwater on Monday evening.
