NEW KNOXVILLE __The visiting Ada High School boys soccer team defeated non-league foe New Knoxville 3-1 on Monday, August 18.

The Bulldogs improved to 2-0 with the victory. NK fell to 0-2 after the defeat.

“The boys put in a gritty performance and earned a well-deserved win at New Knoxville,” said Ada second-year head coach Aaron Acheson. “We controlled the game in the midfield, with our holding midfielders setting the tone and linking play effectively.

“The back four were outstanding,” he continued. “They were solid, vocal and quick to recover while covering for each other throughout the match.

“Their organization and effort gave us the platform to succeed,” the coach noted.

Junior Andrew Allen pumped in two goals and assisted on the other score to pace the victors.

Bulldog Chase Jarrett tallied the other Ada goal. Carson Conley dealt one assist.

Connor Hoge netted the lone Ranger score.

Ada jumped to a 2-0 lead at halftime, and each team scored once after intermission.

The Bulldogs put nine shots on goal compared to six by the Rangers. Bulldog keeper Jacob Rush was credited with six saves in goal.

“It was a complete team effort, and a strong step forward,” Acheson summed up.
