Janis A. Hays Carse was a nurse

Janis A. Hays Carse, age 74, of Ada, passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at Trustwell Living – Blanchard Place, Kenton. 

She was born on December 6, 1950 to the late Ralph and Beulah (Spar) Hays. Janis was previously married to Charles M. Carse, he preceded her in death on December 26, 2009. Also preceding Janis in death is her son, Cpl. Nathan Carse who died on February 8, 2011; and her brother, Bruce Hays. 

Janis is survived by her two daughters: Megan (Tony) Archer and Kristin Carse-Purdy all of Ada; six grandchildren: Jackson (Faith) Brown, Aidin Brown, Collin Brown, Nathan Brown, Bryce Purdy and Lillian Purdy; three brothers: Don (Peggy) Hays of West Mansfield, Brad (Deb) Hays of Ada and Rex (Bonnie) Hays of Rochester, NY; and sister-in-law, Mindy Hays of Celina. 

Janis was a registered nurse. She retired after teaching for thirty-five years from Rhodes State College, where she was a professor in nursing. She was a member of Sugar Grove Methodist Church, Ada. Janis was a former member of the Allen County Board of Health.  Janis was an avid OSU Buckeyes and Cleveland Brown’s fan.        

Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Ada.  Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ada.   

Visitation will be held three hours prior to the service on Thursday, September 25th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Ada.  

Memorial contributions may be made to Tranquility Hospice, 1949 State Route 37W, Suite C, Delaware, Ohio 43015.
