RAWSON–The visiting Ada High School girls basketball team defeated Cory-Rawson 31-21 in a defensive contest on Monday, December 8.

The Bulldog girls improved to 4-2 overall with the non-conference road victory. With three consecutive wins, this is Ada’s best six-game start in several seasons.

Cory-Rawson fell to 1-5 after the home loss.

Ada led 8-6 after the first quarter as four players scored two points apiece. The Bulldogs pulled ahead 17-10 at halftime behind six points in the second stanza by freshman Te’a Griffith.

Ada senior Anna Conley led all scorers with 12 points. She netted six big points in the final period as the Bulldogs outscored C-R 10-4 to win by 10.

Griffith supported Conley with 10 points. Ada freshman Shay Smith added four markers.

The scrappy Hornet girls inched within 21-17 after three periods of play. But Ada was able to keep Cory at bay behind three baskets from Conley.

Katelynn Duffman led C-R with 11 points. Addyson Duffman contributed eight markers and drilled the lone Hornet triple.

Ada connected on 14 two-point goals, made no triples and converted three of four free throws (75 percent). 

Cory sank six two-pointers, drained one trifecta and converted six of 10 charity stripe tosses (60 percent).

Ada (1-1 BVC) plays at Blanchard Valley Conference rival Riverdale (2-2, 2-0 BVC) on Thursday, Dec. 11. Having won two in a row after an 0-2 start, the Falcons travel to Bucyrus Wynford (3-2) on Tuesday.

Led by speedy Marissa Bonham, Riverdale is 1-1 at home while Ada is 2-1 on the road. A 5-10 junior, Bonham was first team All-BVC last year.

The Bulldog girls then visit non-league county rival Ridgemont (3-3) Saturday, Dec. 13. The Gophers lost to Cory-Rawson 34-29 on Dec. 4.
