Bulldog girls basketball loss vs. Continental

ADA__The Ada High School girls basketball team lost a 47-40 battle to visiting non-conference opponent Continental on Saturday afternoon, December 20.

The visiting Pirates outscored the Bulldogs by a combined total of 25-17 in the second and fourth periods to spell the difference.   

The Bulldogs dropped to 6-4 overall with the defeat. Putnam County League foe Continental improved to 4-5 after the victory. 

Ada led 9-8 after the first quarter, but fell behind 21-18 at halftime. The Pirates authored a 13-9 second period as Morgan Shock knocked down two triples, and Kamryn Searfoss added another trifecta. 

The teams battled to a 14-14 tie in a high-scoring third stanza. Bulldog post Anna Conley scored six points in the period, while teammates Kenley Poling and Lucy Carter tallied four markers apiece.

In the fourth period, Continental canned eight of 12 free throws to win the quarter 12-8 and stave off an Ada comeback. Bulldog junior guard Poling nailed two triples in the fourth quarter, but the Ada girls came up short by seven.

Poling scored all 10 of her points in the second half on three treys. Senior Conley also netted 10 points, led by three baskets in the third period.

Ada freshman guard Carter contributed nine markers. Fellow freshman Te’a Griffith added five points.

Continental junior sharpshooter Morgan Shock led all scorers with 16 points as she canned three treys. Senior Makenzie Shock added 10 markers.

The Bulldog girls canned 13 two-point goals, splashed three triples and converted five of eight free throws (63 percent). 

Continental connected on 11 two-pointers, drilled four treys and converted 13 of 21 charity stripe tries (62 percent). 

Ada fell to 2-2 at home this season with the close loss. 

The Bulldog girls entertain Marion Elgin (3-2) Saturday, Dec. 27 at 3 p.m. Ada then hosts Arcadia (5-2) on Dec. 30 to close out the 2025 portion of its schedule.
