MARION__The Ada High School wrestling team competed at the annual 20-team Sally George Marion Pleasant Invitational tournament on Friday and Saturday, January 30-31.

The Bulldog grapplers finished 18^th in the tough event with 21 points. Liberty Center won the tournament with 186.5 points, while Mansfield Madison came in 10 points behind LC in second.

Ada freshman Case Vieira reached the semifinals of the 106 lbs. tournament bracket with two byes and a 10-5 decision victory. In the semis, he was pinned by the eventual weight class champion, top-seeded senior Braedyn Tammarine of Liberty Center.

In the consolation semis, Vieira lost by pin. Then, in the fifth-place match, he won by forfeit over injured freshman teammate Carter Dunlap.

Dunlap won his first match by pin, but lost in the quarterfinals to Tammarine. In the consolation bracket, he captured a match by pin and took another win by a 13-9 decision.

[UPDATED] Dunlap then lost via pin to the third-place finisher to fall into the fifth-place bout vs. Vieira; Dunlap won this match with Viera injuring his hand.

Ada senior Silas Riblet was seeded third in the 126 lbs. bracket. He won his first match with a pin, but then lost in the quarterfinals to the eventual runner-up via pin.

In the consolation bracket, Riblet was forced to forfeit his first match due to injury.

Bulldog sophomore Ethan Carl won his first-round match by pin, but then lost in the second round. In the consolation bracket, he won his first match by forfeit before being eliminated via pin in the next bout. He ended up 2-2 at the tourney.

Ada junior Kale Pedersen recorded a consolation bracket pin and a 1-2 record in the 138 lbs. division.

Also competing for the Bulldogs at the tournament were senior Zaiden Denslow (120), sophomore Elijah Craig (150), sophomore Colt Archer (165), senior Leyton Karsten (215) and sophomore Adrian Williams (285).

UP NEXT
The Bulldog wrestlers host the annual Ada Invitational on Saturday, February 7, starting at 9:30 a.m. League foe McComb and Parkway also come to Ada for a triangular match on Feb. 11.

The Blanchard Valley Conference championship tournament is Saturday, Feb. 21 at Van Buren. Sectionals are Feb. 28.
