Four Bulldog girls basketball players named All-BVC

Four Ada High School girls basketball players received All-Blanchard Valley Conference honors in voting recently conducted by the league coaches.

Senior 6-0 post Anna Conley was named second team All-BVC. She led Ada in scoring (11.6 points), rebounds (8.9) and blocks (2.6) per game this season.

Versatile freshman Tea Griffith also earned second team all-league notice. She scored 10.2 points and grabbed 6.4 rebounds per contest.

Sharpshooting junior guard Kenley Poling was voted honorable mention all-league. She scored 4.7 ppg and dished out 2.6 assists a game.

Clutch freshman guard Lucy Carter also garnered honorable mention All-BVC notice. She averaged 6.2 ppg, passed out 2.4 assists per outing and snared 4.3 rebounds a game.

Poling and Carter led the Bulldogs in three-point field goals.

The Ada girls finished the regular season 12-10, and the Bulldogs went 3-7 in the 11-team BVC. 

Liberty-Benton decisively won the BVC championship by three games with a 10-0 record. Arcadia and Riverdale tied for second place at 7-3. Pandora-Gilboa came in fourth at 6-4. 

Arlington, Elmwood and McComb finished in a three-way tie for fifth at 5-5. Van Buren ended up eighth at 4-6. Ada tied with Leipsic at 3-7 in ninth place, while Vanlue came in last at 0-10.

Ada plays at local rival Allen East (11-11) in a sectional tournament battle Thursday in Harrod.
