Szippl and Demascio compete at district swim meet

BOWLING GREEN__The Ada High School swim team had two swimmers compete in the Div. II Northwest district meet at Bowling Green State University on Friday, February 20.

Ada junior Jacob Szippl finished 12th amid the 32-swimmer field in the boys 100-yard backstroke with a time of 58.12.

Szippl also touched 13th out of 32 swimmers in the boys 100 freestyle with a time of 51.36.

Senior Lydia Demascio took 21st out of 32 swimmers in the girls 100 backstroke with a time of 68.33. She came in 32nd in the girls 100 freestyle (61.73).

Ontario captured the boys Div. II district team crown with 326 points. The Bulldog boys came in 31st out of 40 scoring teams as Szippl scored all nine points.

Ontario also won the girls Div. II district team title with 296 points. Colonel Crawford finished second with 243. 

Neither Ada swimmer qualified for the state meet in Canton next week.
