Letter: Irish Iron Memorial Fund raises awareness of motorcycle deaths
By Patty Griffin
I started the Irish Iron Memorial Fund 3 years ago when my husband, TJ Griffin, was killed on his motorcycle on April 9, 2023 (Easter Day). A dual-rear-wheel truck backed out of a driveway in front of him on a country road. He hit the truck so hard that he knocked it off its axle.
We are a non-profit organization made up of four board members. We have done several fundraisers. You may have seen me set up at the F&M Picnic or Harvest & Herb Festival in Ada. Each year, around October, we have a ride/party in honor of TJ.
The Irish Iron Memorial Fund helps pay the funeral expenses of anyone killed on a motorcycle and promotes motorcycle awareness. Since the fund began, we have helped 23 families.
This year we have already helped one family. If you know someone killed on a motorcycle, please reach out to me and I will send the funeral home a check along with a letter to the family explaining the donation.
We want to help as many families as we can, but we also need donations to continue to help families.
