Nancy Marie Poe Yoakam was a former member of the USV school board
Nancy Marie (Poe) Yoakam, age 73, died on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at 9:05 am at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima.
She was born on February 26, 1940 in Hardin County, Ohio to Edward and Susie (Allen) Poe and they preceded her in death. On June 8, 1957 she married Harold L. Yoakam and he survives in Alger.
Nancy was a homemaker and she previously worked at Dave's Market in Kenton for several years. She was a member of the McGuffey Church of Christ. Nancy was a graduate of the McGuffey High School class of 1957 and she previously attended Hi-Point in accounting. Nancy was a former member of the Upper Scioto Valley School Board for four years.
Also surviving are three daughters: Sheila (Steven) Lawrence of Harrod, Shelly (Rod) Miller of Kenton and Susan Yoakam of Ada; five grandchildren: Justin (Sarah) Gossard, Ashley Gossard, Kayla (Chris) Gaskill, Laken (Pvt. Tyler) Bordner and Mackenzie Miller; three great grandchildren: Eliza Lawrence, Garrett Gossard and Kayden Gaskill; two brothers: John (Joeann) Poe of Lima and Carl (Charlotte) Poe of Ada; five sisters: Dorothy (Bud) Garver of Ada, Opal Holbrook of Alger, Ruby Nichols of Alger, Mary Ann Daniels of Roundhead and Marsha (Randy) Phillips of Kenton
She was preceded in death by four brothers: Merlin Poe, Bobby Poe, Curtis Poe and Felix Poe; four sisters: Esther Poe, Lucille Salsbury, Shirley Biederman and Faye Patton.
A funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 31, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada with the Pastor Scott Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger.
Friends may call 2 p.m.-4 p.m. and 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. on Friday, August 30, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada and until time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.
