Bulldogs host BVC track championship

Hickman wins 400 meters

ADA__The Ada High School track and field teams hosted the annual 11-team Blanchard Valley Conference championship meet on Friday, May 15 in War Memorial Stadium.

The Bulldog girls took sixth place, while the Ada boys ended up ninth in the league standings.

Van Buren captured the girls team crown by 26 points ahead of second-place Elmwood, 131.5-105.5. Riverdale edged Liberty-Benton for third (97-95), with Arlington coming in fifth (84). The Ada girls tallied 44.5 points.

Liberty-Benton won the boys team title with 135 points, followed by Arlington in second at 116.5. The Bulldog boys tallied 40 points to finish ahead of Vanlue (14) and Arcadia (2).

Senior speedster Kayleb Hickman won the 400 meters in 50.42 to pace the Bulldog boys and post the lone Ada first. 

Hickman also took third in the 200 meters (22.64), and finished fifth in the 100-meter dash (11.65).

Sophomore Elijah Craig finished seventh in the 300 hurdles (46.01).

Junior Carson Conley took seventh in the discus (131-0), just ahead of sophomore teammate Brier Hannah in eighth (127-2).

Senior Braden Smith took eighth in the pole vault (10-6).

The Ada girls 4x100 relay quartet of sophomores Kyla Coleman, Charliegh Entinghe and Rose Baxter, and senior Jordyn Smith crossed the line second in 52.41.

Smith took third in the long jump with a best effort of 16-0.5. Baxter came in seventh in the long jump with a top leap of 14-3.5.

Bulldog senior Anna Conley finished a solid third in the high jump with a best leap of 4-10. Conley also ended up fifth in the discus with a best toss of 107-5.

Ada freshman Ambriel Hollon took seventh in the 100 hurdles (18.42).

Senior Smith came in eighth in the 100 meters (13.71).

Riverdale junior ace Marissa Bonham won the high jump (5-4) and the 400 meters (59.35).

Ada hosts the district meet next week.
