The 10th Annual Made in Ada Wilson Football Festival–MIAWFF in Icon shorthand–on Saturday, August 22 was a rock and roll celebration of all things football in Ada, Ohio. Participant feedback suggests that the festival has gotten bigger and better every year, thanks to the efforts of the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce.
Bathed in breezy, sunny weather, Ada’s Depot Park was thronged with football fans of all ages, come to listen to two live bands, partake of food and beverages, play games and witness a couple of dramatic contests.
The Midwest BBQ, Catering & More Hot Wing Challenge was fully stocked with 15 participants, who were challenged to clean the bones on ten very hot chicken wings–close to 1.4M on the Scoville scale. The seconds ticked by slowly as onlookers marveled at the contestants' fortitude. Organizers issued the reminder, “Do NOT rub your eyes!”
The top three Hot Wings finishers were 1) Billy Fleming, 2) Shane Tilton and 3) Emily Jane Berakah. Fleming finished his portion at about 2 minutes and 55 seconds.
The Old Route 69 Beer Stein holding contest tested participants’ ability to hold a very large, very full glass beer stein with an outstretched arm. The challenge tested hands, shoulders and core strength. Grimaces, drips and wobbles gave hints of flagging endurance.
The top three stein holders were 1) Nolan Bonsek, 2) Lester Miller and 3) Matt Fisher. Want to practice for next year? The longest time posted was approximately 3 minutes and 45 seconds.
Throughout the evening, visitors were entertained by Brooklyn & The Vibe and Trailer Park Ninjas on a sponsor-provided stage. Hungry and thirsty guests could turn to eight food vendors and a beer tent, with sales and ID wristbands handled by the Ada Lions Club.
The 2026 MIAWFF event was the last to be coordinated by Lindsay Hollar, the outgoing Ada Area Chamber of Commerce director. She is handing over the reins to new director Tom Murphy.
