VAN BUREN__The visiting Ada High School boys soccer team lost 4-0 at Van Buren in a North Central Ohio Soccer Association match on Thursday, Sept. 10.

Ada fell to 4-3 overall and 0-2 in NCOSA play after the road defeat.

Perennial power Van Buren improved to 5-1-1 overall and 1-0-1 in NCOSA play with the clean sheet win.

“Van Buren is a good team,” said Bulldog head coach Aaron Acheson. “They have beaten Liberty-Benton and Bluffton. Their only loss was to Ottawa Hills, and they also tied Upper Sandusky, who is undefeated so far this season.

“We knew this was going to be a tough one,” he admitted. “In our first seven games this season, we have played some very good teams. We are 4-3 and are looking forward to the remaining 10 games. We have a very competitive schedule this season. 

“The key for us will be how much we develop over the course of those remaining games,” Acheson continued. “We are also dealing with a few injuries. We lost Wyatt Fisher late in the game, which is something we will have to monitor moving forward.”

The Bulldogs put four shots on goal, while VB fired nine shots on frame. Ada senior keeper Jacob Rush made eight saves.

Ada hosts Fort Jennings (4-2-1) on Monday, Sept. 14.

“We have another tough opponent coming up on Monday at home vs. Fort Jennings,” Acheson remarked. “We will regroup, make some adjustments and be ready to go for Monday.”
