DELPHOS__The visiting Ada High School girls soccer team defeated Delphos St. John’s soundly 6-1 in a non-league match on Monday, Sept. 14.
The Bulldog girls improved to 7-1-1 overall with the convincing victory.
DSJ dropped to 2-4-1 after the loss.
Senior Kenley Poling netted a hat trick, while junior Rose Baxter tallied two goals and passed out one assist.
Ada keeper Emily Gibson saved four of the five Blue Jay shots.
“It was a good start to an important and busy week for us,” said Ada head coach Doug Dewese. “We have Riverdale Wednesday and Columbus Grove Thursday, and those games come with a lot of post-season and league implications.
“We have always struggled with St. John’s in past years, so a convincing win helps us get in the right mindset,” Dewese noted. “Glad to see our senior (Poling) get a hat trick. Kenley has worked hard at her finishing, and it paid off in this game.
“Goals have been more sparse of late, so getting three girls on the goal sheet and five girls earning points gets us back to some good team level play,” he noted.
Bulldogs Aubry Jordan, Shay Smith and Anne Ludwig passed out one assist apiece.
Ada (0-1 NCOSA) visits league foe Riverdale (2-4-2, 0-0-1 NCOSA) on Wednesday, Sept. 16. The match at Grove (6-1, 4-0 NWC) Thursday is against the NWC leader.
