MEDIA RELEASE__Deanna Rodeheffer, an Ohio Northern University student pursuing both a degree in civil engineering and a Land Surveying Certificate, has been selected as the recipient of Choice One Engineering's 2026 Tom Coverstone Memorial Scholarship. She will receive a $5,000 scholarship and join Choice One as a co-op student in summer 2027, gaining valuable industry experience.

A graduate of Fort Loramie High School and Upper Valley Career Center, Deanna stood out among applicants not only for her academic achievements, but for many of the same qualities that defined Tom Coverstone's legacy, including a passion for learning, a willingness to help others succeed, and a commitment to the engineering and surveying professions.

In both her scholarship essay and supporting letters of recommendation, Deanna demonstrated a commitment to continuous learning and helping others succeed. She described staying after class to help classmates with assignments, writing, "To me, that's what teaching is about. Making sure nobody on your team feels stuck or alone." It was this commitment to serving others and supporting her peers that helped distinguish Deanna during the selection process.

Established in 2020, the Tom Coverstone Memorial Scholarship honors the legacy of Choice One founding member Tom Coverstone. The scholarship recognizes students pursuing careers in engineering and surveying who demonstrate the character, work ethic, and commitment to others that defined Tom's career. In addition to financial support, recipients gain hands-on experience through a co-op with Choice One Engineering.
