Bulldog girls soccer win vs. Northwood

ADA __The Ada High School girls soccer team dominated short-handed visiting Northwood 10-0 in a North Central Ohio Soccer Association mismatch on Monday, Sept. 21.

The Bulldogs raced to a 7-0 halftime lead and were never threatened by the Rangers.

Ada junior Rose Baxter scored two goals, and senior Kenley Poling dished out three assists to pace the onslaught.

The Bulldog girls improved to 9-1-2 overall and 1-1-1 in NCOSA action with the home blowout victory.

New NCOSA member Northwood fell to 0-6 overall and 0-2 in league play after the lopsided road defeat.

Junior Emily Shanks scored first, assisted by Poling. Baxter netted an unassisted goal to make it 2-0.

Aliyah Kober tallied an unassisted score to provide a 3-0 margin. Ashley Williams found the back of the net on an assist by Shay Smith.

Reese Jordan, Maycie Dewese and Baxter followed with unassisted goals to give Ada an insurmountable 7-0 lead at intermission.

In the second half, Charity Williams scored on a pass from Poling.

Emily Gibson netted a goal with the aid of another Poling assist. Maeve Ulrey tallied the 10th and final goal on an assist by Lynkin McDougle.

“Major shout out to Northwood for fulfilling league needs and coming to play,” said Ada head coach Doug Dewese. “They only have 10 healthy players total, and one of them couldn't make the trip today. We played 8 v. 8 the majority of the game so they could at least have a sub. 

“Ours girls were sure to play solid soccer and put work in to earn goals,” he noted. “It was really nice to see some new names on the score sheet.  I believe we had first-time varsity goals for Charity Williams, Ashley Williams, Emily Gibson and our senior Reese Jordan.  

“Kenley Poling, one of our main scorers, did the senior/captain thing by being unselfish and handing out three assists as well,” Dewese remarked. “It was nice to have a game like this after a wild, wild week last week.”  

Ada hosts tough league foe Upper Sandusky (6-2-1, 2-0-1 NCOSA) on Wednesday, Sept. 30. 

“Now it is back to the training pitch to prep for JV vs. Bluffton on Thursday and varsity against Upper Sandusky next Wednesday, which has some serious league implications,” said Dewese.
