LIMA __The visiting Ada High School boys soccer team played to a 2-2 tie with Lima Temple Christian in a non-league match on Monday, Sept. 28.

Ada trailed 1-0 at halftime, then built a 2-1 lead late in the second half before the Pioneers knotted it up on a penalty kick.

The Bulldog boys record is now 6-6-1 with the tie. LTC is 5-3-2.

Temple Christian opened the scoring in the first half on a free kick after Ada was called for a foul just outside the penalty area. 

A TC player delivered a great ball into the far upper corner of the net to give the Pioneers a 1-0 lead at halftime.

Ada came out strong in the second half and tallied the equalizer with 28:48 remaining. 

Bulldog Chase Jarett delivered a fine ball into the box on a corner kick to initiate the tying score. Tim Chrissobolis made a strong run onto the ball and scored near post to tie the match, 1-1.

The Bulldogs continued to push and took the lead with 12 minutes remaining. Daniel Klear played a nice through ball to Jarrett, who took a few touches before finishing the shot in the back of the net to put Ada ahead 2-1.

Temple set up the tying goal with five minutes remaining when Ada was caught out of position in transition and committed a foul inside the penalty area. 

TC converted the ensuing penalty kick to tie the match, 2-2.

“We had a late opportunity to find the game-winning goal but came up just short and the match ended in a draw,” said Ada head coach Aaron Acheson.

“We played good enough to win,” he observed. “I was happy to see the guys fight back and take the lead in the second half. We made some bad fouls that allowed them to score two goals, and you have to give Temple credit for making us pay for those errors. 

“We had a late opportunity to win the game, but unfortunately we just came up a little short,” he added.

Ada directed eight shots on goal, while TC put four shots on frame. 

Senior keeper Jacob Rush made three saves in goal for the Bulldogs, while the Pioneer goalkeeper recorded seven saves.

Ada (1-2 NCOSA) plays at league power Upper Sandusky (9-1-1, 3-1-1 NCOSA) Wednesday, Sept. 30.
