Bluffton Hospital offers free mammograms thanks to Komen grant
Blanchard Valley Health System has received a grant from the Northwest Ohio Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for $58,374 to provide free mammograms to uninsured low and middle income women and men in Hancock and surrounding counties through the Hancock County Mammography Screening Initiative (HCMSI). The mammograms are offered at both Woman Wise Mammography in Findlay and Bluffton Hospital.
This is the fifth year HCMSI has been supported through a grant from the Northwest Ohio Affiliate of Susan G. Komen. Since the HCMSI program’s inception, the grant has served more than 550 women and one man through screening mammograms, breast biopsies and breast MRIs. A total of eight breast cancers have been diagnosed.
To qualify for HCMSI, women and men must be uninsured and meet eligibility criteria related to age and household income. For specific eligibility criteria or more information, call Woman Wise Mammography at 419-425-3170 or visit www.bvhealthsystem.org and search for HCMSI.
