Lloyd VanAtta was a 1945 Ada High School graduate
Lloyd C. VanAtta, 87, died on Monday, May 19, 2014 at 8:05 p.m. at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
He was born on September 6, 1926 in Ada, Ohio, to John and Grace (Elzay) VanAtta and they preceded him in death. On November 10, 1951 he married Mary J. (Francisco) VanAtta and she died on January 4, 2013.
Lloyd graduated from Ada High School in 1945. He served as a township trustee for 24 years. He was a member of the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church where he served as Sunday School Secretary for many years.
Survivors include a son, Bradley VanAtta of Ada; three daughters, Kay (John) Rettig of Ada, Christine VanAtta of Columbus, and Catherine (Steve) Decker of London, Ohio; and six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; three step grandchildren and seven step great grandchildren; a brother, John VanAtta of Lakeview; a sister, Marie Wolgamot of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, David Rainey; three sisters, Mildred Moe Robinson, Lola Mullholand and Martha Jean VanAtta; four brothers, Willard, Harold, Paul and Donald VanAtta.
Funeral service will begin at 12 p.m. on Friday, May 23 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada with Pastor Courtnie Morton officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ada.
Friends may call prior to the service on Friday, May 23, beginning at 10 am until 12 p.m. at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sugar Grove United Methodist Church of Ada.
