Earl Harps 1917-2014
Earl B. Harps, 96, died on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at 3:30 a.m. at his residence in Ada, Ohio. He was born on May 27, 1917 in Wapakoneta, Ohio, to Dallas V. and Lillie (Truesdale) Harps and they preceded him in death. On November 22, 1937 he married Betty B. Mort and she died on January 25, 2014.
Earl retired after working for 34 years as an electrician for Westinghouse Corporation of Lima. He was a member of the St. Mathews Lutheran Church of Shawnee. Earl was a U.S. Army Veteran who served during WWII in Germany from May 8, 1945 to July 4, 1946. He was a member of the F&AM Chapter #706 of Lima, Ohio. He was a member of the Hunting Club in Denham Springs, La. He also served on the Board of Directors and Credit Committee for Westinghouse Credit Union.
Surviving are a daughter, Judy (Tom) Williams of Ada; a son-in-law, Tom Walker of Denham Springs, La; nine grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Marjorie (Harold) Fisher of Spencerville. He was preceded in death by two daughters: Debra Ann Ott and Saundra "Sonnie" Walker; a grandson, Terry Williams; a great grandson, Terry Lee Williams, Jr; and a sister, Betty Marie Coon
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, May 27 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada with Pastor Jeff Waite officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery in Lima.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital.
