You know this phrase from childhood: "Here is the church, here is the steeple, open the doors and see all the people." Some day you may tell your grandchildren that you stood beside the steeple of the First United Methodist Church before it was put into place atop the church. In the meantime, the steeple sits on the ground in front of the church.
