Senior Cody Lovejoy leads nation with 17 pins against NCAA Division III competition
Ohio Northern senior All-American Cody Lovejoy leads the nation in falls this season, according to the NCAA Statistics service.
Lovejoy has 17 pins against NCAA Division III competition, the most by any wrestler against his level of competition.
Taylor Walsh of Indiana has 14 pins to lead Division I wrestlers and Evan Rosenborough of Lake Erie leads Division II wrestlers with 10 pins.
Lovejoy is 29-0 with 20 pins against all competition and is ranked No. 1 nationally in Division III's 285-pound weight class.
D.J. Tirelli of Johnson & Wales (R.I.) has 14 pins against NCAA Division III competition to stand second nationally and Isaiah Simpson of Messiah (Pa.) and Luis Hernandez of Milwaukee (Wis.) School of Engineering are tied for third with 12 pins.
Ohio Northern is 13-3 overall and are 1-0 in the Ohio Athletic Conference this season under 27th-year head coach Ron Beaschler.
The Polar Bears will return to action Tuesday at 7:30 pm against No. 7-ranked Mount Union at the ONU Sports Center.
