Mitchell "Mitch" Bailey - complete obituary
Mitchell "Mitch" Bailey, 86, died at 2:45 p.m. July 30, 2012, at Kindred Hospital, Lima.
He was born Sept. 30, 1925, in Breathitt County, Ky., to John and Dora Marshall Bailey, who preceded him in death. On March 15, 1947, he married Omalee Patton, who died Nov. 24, 2011.
Mr. Bailey retired from Bartlett Roofing and Swartz Construction, both in Lima, where he worked in roofing and construction. He was a member of Bethlehem Tabernacle Church, Lima. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include three sons, Ronald (Sandy) Bailey and Michael (Patti) Bailey, both of Lima, and Dwayne (Liz) Bailey, of Cairo; a daughter, Darlene (Gary) Carter, of Lima; and 21 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra K. Bailey shepherd; two granddaughters, Peggy Thacker and Jeannie Thacker; a great-granddaughter, Hailey N. Bailey; six brothers, Chalmer, Otis, Arnold, Ellis, Junior and Roger; and two sisters, Stella and Brenda Fay.
Services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger. Pastor Paul Bailey will officiate. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger, with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and until time of services Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
