ONU music camp concert Thursday and Friday evenings
By Monty Siekerman
One hundred music campers arrived on the ONU campus Sunday and will conclude their week of study and practice with concerts on Thursday and Friday in the Freed Center.
Ensemble concerts are set for 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The next evening the full choir, band, and orchestras perform at 8 p.m. The public is invited.
The camp, for students in grades 7-12, draws aspiring musicians from several states and Germany.
A full day of activity begins with breakfast at 7:15 a.m. and concludes with lights out at 10 p.m.
This is the 45th year for the music camp at ONU, which is the longest running music camp in the state.
Students may return from year to year. This will be the sixth year here for several campers.
Dr. Sarah Waters is in her 10th year as camp director. Alice Basinger is the assistant director. She has worked with the camp for 28 years.
