Historic effort gains Richards Player of the Week honor
ONU senior Emily Richards (Delaware/Hayes) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 29-Feb. 5 for her efforts at the Camel City Elite Races in Winston-Salem, North Carolina during the weekend.
Richards added another historic and record-breaking day to her resume.
The senior competed in the 800-meter run at the JDL Fast Track where she finished sixth overall, behind two Division I athletes and three professional runners.
Richards finished the race in 2:07.46 and broke her own school record in the event and recorded the third fastest time in Div. III history in the event.
Her time is more the four seconds faster than the next closest Div. III athlete in the event.
The Polar Bears return to the track on Saturday afternoon as they travel to Westerville to compete in the All-Ohio Championships, hosted by Otterbein University.
