Joe Banks Invitational begins 11 am Saturday
Saturday The No. 27-ranked Ohio Northern men's track and field team will compete in its first home meet of the season as it hosts the annual Joe Banks Invitational at the ONU Sports Center Fieldhouse .
Northern fell five spots in the second weekly United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association power rankings to No. 27 .
The Joe Banks Invitational will kick off at 11 am with the men's long jump, pole vault and shot put .
Running events will begin at noon with the women's distance medley relay.
The Polar Bears enter the meet after competing in both the SPIRE Midwest Open and Findlay Classic and Elite Throws meets last weekend .
At the Findlay Classic, junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference honoree Spencer Schulze highlighted Friday evening's meets as he posted a third place finish in the 5,000-meter run in 15:40.02 .
Senior Bobby Borger added a top-10 finish at the Midwest Track and Field Open at the SPIRE Institute as he finished eighth overall in the 5,000-meter run in 15:11.84 .
During the second day of both meets, junior Ian McVey finished seventh at the SPIRE Midwest Open in the 3,000-meter run in 8:31.32, while at Findlay, sophomores Noah McKee and Jared Butcher each had fourth place finishes to lead the Polar Bears .
McKee was fourth in the triple jump at 12.39 meters .Butcher led a 4-6-7 finish for the Polar Bears in the 400-meter dash in :51.72.
Head Coach Jason Maus: Maus is in his 9th season at ONU with a 413-99 indoor record, a winning percentage of .807.
