HAMLER - The Ada softball team fell 18-3 at non-league power Patrick Henry in a chilly early Friday bout.
Ada dropped to 1-1 this season with the defeat.
The Lady Bulldogs jumped to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but were unable to hold off the Patriots or score the rest of the contest.
PH claimed the lead with six runs in the bottom of the first frame, then added four in the second to seize a 10-3 advantage.
The hosts then plated eight runs in the third, and went on to post a run-rule shortened, five-inning win by 15.
Senior shortstop Olivia Alexander led the purple and gold with three hits. Senior catcher Sydney Newland drove in two runs, and classmate third sacker Maddie Gossard added one run batted in.
Freshman Leona Dalton was the starting Ada pitcher, and PH scored 10 runs in her three innings of work. The Patriots tallied eight more in two innings against southpaw reliever Kaiti Newland and the Bulldog defense.
