Lady Bulldogs outslug Ridgemont

RIDGEWAY - The visiting Ada softball team raced to a 12-0 lead and held off county rival Ridgemont 13-7 on a cold, windy Friday evening.
Ada improved to 3-1 with its second victory in two days. The Lady Gophers fell to 2-3 following the defeat.
The contest was scoreless for the first two innings. Then the Lady Bulldogs erupted for six runs in each of the third and fourth innings to grab the dozen-run advantage.
Ridgemont plated a run in the home fourth, then scored three times in each of the next two innings to close the gap to 12-7.
Ada tacked on one more run in the top of the seventh to provide the final margin of victory. Each Bulldog starter collected at least one hit.
Winning pitcher Leona Dalton hurled 4 2/3 innings, slammed a home run and drove in three runs to aid her own cause.
The Lady Bulldogs out-hit Ridgemont, 10-5. Ada left nine runners on base to eight by the Gophers.
Senior third baseman Maddie Gossard contributed two hits and scored three runs to pace the offense.
Senior catcher Sydney Newland singled, scored a run and drove in a pair. Senior shortstop Olivia Alexander scored twice, collected one RBI and had a hit.
Senior outfielder Kaiti Newland singled, knocked in two runs and scored twice. Junior second baseman Raina England singled, scored once and drove in one run.
Junior outfielder Alexis Ennis singled and drove in a run. Sophomore infielder Sidney Gossard drove in a pair of runs and hit a single. Senior outfielder Teara Coulson singled and scored a run.
Dalton scored two runs, gave up just one hit and allowed no earned runs. She struck out three and walked one to improve to 3-1.
Southpaw Kaiti Newland hurled the final 2 1/3 innings in relief. She allowed four hits and three earned runs while striking out two.
Gopher Cassidy Knapp smacked two hits and scored three runs. Teammate Jackie Ramsey had a hit, scored once and drove in a run.

Ada's scheduled game at Arlington Saturday morning was cancelled. The Lady Bulldogs (1-0 NWC) visit local rival and defending league champion Allen East (2-0, 1-0 NWC) Monday at 5 p.m.
The Bulldogs are 2-1 on the road. AE bombed Delphos Jefferson 20-8 Thursday
