Lavey, Fisher, Reed post 1st place finishes
UPLAND, Ind. — Sophomore Taylor Lavey (New Baltimore, Mich./Findlay) and juniors Taylor Fisher (Wapakoneta) and Maddy Reed (Piketon) led the No. 5-ranked Ohio Northern women's track and field team as it competed in the 3rd Annual George Glass Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
Lavey led the Polar Bears (19-4 overall) with a first place finish in the 200-meter dash, winning the event in :26.06, while freshman Stella DeWitt (Weston/Cardinal Stritch Catholic) finished fourth in the event in :27.11.
In the 400-meter run, Lavey added a second place finish to her afternoon in 1:01.25.
Fisher led a 1-2-3 punch in the 400-meter hurdles as she finished first in 1:08.26, sophomore Melinda McIntosh (Farmersville/Valley View) was second in 1:09.30 and junior Sydney McCluer (Columbus Grove) was third in the event in 1:11.03.
Reed posted a first place finish in the pole vault, winning the event with a jump of 3.75 meters, while senior Kelly Wollenslegel (Clyde) was third in the event with a leap of 3.55 meters.
DeWitt also added a second place finish in the long jump with a jump of 5.25 meters.
Junior Avery Ewing (Kokomo, Ind./Eastern) also posted a top-3 finish at the meet with a third place finish in the 1,500-meter run in 4:51.22.
The Polar Bears will be back in action next Saturday as they travel to Delaware to compete in the All-Ohio Championships.
