ONU track has strong showing
NAPERVILLE, Ill. — The Ohio Northern men's track and field team posted a strong showing as it competed at the Dr. Keeler Invitational hosted by North Central (Ill.) College on Thursday and Friday.
No team scores were kept in the meet.
Junior Ian McVey (Stow/Munroe Falls) led the way for Northern on day one, smashing his season-best time in the 5,000-meter run and finishing eighth in the race in 14:36.85.
Senior Alex Sibila (Zionsville, Ind.) finished third in the high jump, tying his career-high mark with a leap of 6' 7".
On the second day of the meet senior Matt Molinaro (Sterling Heights, Mich./DeLaSalle) led the way with a second place finish in the 1,500-meter run in a season-best time of 3:51.14. His time moves him into 11th place nationally in the event.
In the 110-meter hurdles, freshman Owen Lloyd (Colfax, Ind./Clinton Prairie) finished 13th overall in :15.58.
Senior Samuel Boyd (Killbuck/West Holmes) capped off the meet in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, finishing 21st overall in a season-best time of 9:22.79.
Northern will return to action next week as it returns to Naperville to competes in the North Central (Ill.) Gregory Invitational from May 16-17.
