Ada Dog Park to open June 23
The Grand Opening of the Ada Dog Park is slated for 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 23. All are invited...dogs, too.
The large 300’x100’ park is part of Ada War Memorial Park. It is located at the end of East Lehr Avenue (turn east at the Church of Christ on Main Street).
The dog park includes a shelter, benches, water availability, an area for large dogs and one for small dogs, all fenced so that dogs can be off-leash for play, exercise, and socialization. More trees will be added later.
The Ada Dog Park Association led the planning and fundraising. About $45,000 was raised in the past year from generous donations of groups and individuals. A sign at the entrance acknowledges donors. Several benches are inscribed with the names of major donors, either the name of the giver or name of their dogs. The Association has worked closely with the park board, which owns the land.
Association leaders include Cathy Cole, Ken Lauria, Chris Keiser, and Jimmy Wilson.
Last year, there were 1,400 dog tags sold in the 45810 ZIP code, indicating that there are a lot of dogs in Ada and Liberty Township. There will be a lot of tail wagging on June 23 when the park opens.
