Lightel gains another softball honor
ONU senior Kirsten Lightel (Tallmadge) capped her career in style as she was named an Honorable Mention All-American by Fastpitch News, earning her first career All-American honor in her 4-year career.
Lightel is now a four-time All-Region honoree, a four-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference award winner and an All-American.
She is ONU's all-time career leader with 512 strikeouts and a 1.45 ERA and her 66 victories tied the ONU career mark.
She pitched in 103 games during her four seasons as a Polar Bears, posting a 66-22 record with three saves and pitched a school record 602.1 innings.
This season, Lightel was 20-4 with a school record 142 strikeouts and a 1.45 ERA in the circle.
The Polar Bears posted a 32-11 record, were 13-5 in the OAC, won the OAC Tournament and advanced to the finals of the Notre Dame, Indiana Regional tournament in 2018 under second-year head coach Jackie Price.
