McVey runner of the week again
For the second consecutive week, former NCAA All-American and senior cross country runner Ian McVey represented Ohio Northern as the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week.
McVey finished third overall out of 302 total competitors and was the top finisher for the Polar Bears at the Calvin (Mich.) Knight Invitational Saturday. His time of 25:06 guided Northern to an 11th-place finish in the team standings out of 23 competing schools and marked the fastest time among runners from NCAA Division III institutions.
The senior has now led ONU across the finish line in 12 consecutive races, dating back to the 2016 season.
The honor marks the fifth time in McVey's career that he has been tabbed the OAC Runner of the Week.
Ohio Northern will return to the course on Saturday, Sept. 15 when they travel to Shelbyville, Ind., for the pre-regional meet.
