Women’s tennis wins 9-0 and 9-0
DEFIANCE — The Ohio Northern women's tennis team opened its 2018-19 season with 9-0 sweeps of Defiance and Concordia (Mich.) in a tri-match on Wednesday afternoon at Defiance's Dix Tennis Facility.
The Polar Bears move to 2-0 on the season, while the host Yellow Jackets fall to 1-1 and the Cardinals fall to 0-1.
Senior Ashley Ochsenhirt (Birmingham, Ala./Briarwood Christian) and freshman Olivia Schrager (Dayton/Miami Valley) each won at No. 1 singles to lead ONU.
Schrager also added a singles win at No. 2 and the pair each went 2-0 at No. 1 doubles on the day.
Junior Mackenzie Wills (Ada) junior Katie Curry (Oxford/Talawanda) and freshman Abigail Staskiewicz (Mars, Pa./Oakland Catholic) also went 2-0 in singles play on the day.
Schrager and Curry both went 4-0 overall on the afternoon.
The Polar Bears will return to action Friday-Sunday at the Oberlin Invitational.
