Shook named to AP second team
Ohio Northern left tackle Sam Shook (New Philadelphia) was named 2nd Team All-America by the Associated Press in football.
Shook, a senior, was also named the OAC Offensive Lineman of the Year, First Team All-OAC, 1st Team All-North Region by D3football.com and Academic All-Conference this season.
He had an outstanding season after missing most of the past two years due to injury, grading out at a team-best 89 percent as the anchor of the offensive line.
He is also one of 30 players from all NCAA divisions named a Mayo Clinic Comeback Player of the Year nominee.
Shook ends his career as a three-year starter, having played in 26 career games with 25 starts.
This marks the second consecutive season that Ohio Northern has been represented on the AP All-America team, as running back Christiaan Williams was a Second team selection in 2017.
The Polar Bears finished the 2018 season 5-5 overall under 15th-year head coach Dean Paul.
