AHS wrestling 3rd at Cory Duals

The Ada High School wrestling team opened its season by coming in a solid third at the annual six-team Cory-Rawson Duals event Saturday.
The Bulldog grapplers won three of their five matches.
Ada lost to Van Buren 42-30, but rebounded to beat host Cory 48-24. The Bulldogs then beat Delphos Jefferson, 46-30.
Archbold downed Ada 63-12, yet the Bulldogs came back to defeat Arcadia 43-24.
Bulldog junior Clayton McClain went 4-1 on the day at 150 lbs. to pace Ada. He recorded a pin and two wins by decision (14-2, 14-3), plus one win by forfeit.
Bulldog first wins, excluding forfeits, were recorded by: Landon Simon (190), Owen Arnett (165), Chase Caldwell (175), Marley Bulerin (126), Jillian Hazelton (144).
In girls match results, Bulerin recorded a 2-0 mark, and Hazelton was 1-0.
The Ada boys next wrestle at the Lincolnview Lancer Invitational Saturday. The Ada girls compete at the Clyde Invite Sunday.
