January chamber meeting summary
CORRECTION: The library's Chocolate Bake Off is scheduled for February 18.
What's on your 2023 calendar?
The January breakfast meeting of the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce, held at the Ada Public Library, serves as a good preview of coming attractions in 2023 for the organization and the community.
Chamber president Becky Neville and director Lindsay Walden Hollar introduced themselves (as did all of those in attendance) and reviewed the chamber events scheduled for the year. Sprinkled into the calendar were events hosted by other organizations. Hollar commented, “My calendar is already full. The sooner we get the word out, the better.”
Hollar also noted that sometimes the chamber gets called about events organized by others–so it’s never too soon to provide the chamber with event dates and organizer contact information. Events shared during the meeting are:
February - The Mercantile on Main will be closed for a buying trip
February 11 - Free family movie at the Ada Theatre hosted by Beatitudes; stay tuned for details
February 19 - Chocolate Bake Off at Ada Public Library
March 15 - Business of the Year and Chris Burns DiBiasio community service award banquet at The Inn at ONU; watch for nomination forms or contact [email protected]
March 25 - Daddy-Daughter Dance at the Inn at ONU; a portion of the proceeds will go to the Hardin County Imagination Library
April 12 - ONU Presidential Inauguration and Founder’s Day
June - Sidewalk and Garage Sale weekend (chamber event)
July - Fireworks (independent event); VFW Park-in-the-Park Car Show at War Memorial Park
July 2 - Patriotic Pops at Ohio Northern University
August 12 - F&M Picnic at War Memorial Park (Liberty Township event)
August 26 - Made in Ada Wilson Football Festival and Punt, Pass & Kick competition (chamber event)
September 16 - Harvest & Herb Festival (chamber event)
October - Pumpkin Walk (chamber pumpkin decorating event)
November - Citizen of the Year
December - Merry on Main
Monthly chamber meetings are at 8:00 a.m. on the third Wednesday of the month at library with exceptions–there will be occasional mixers and special events held in the evening.
There were 20 individuals in attendance at the January meeting, including representatives from local businesses, nonprofits and government, as well as individual volunteers.
