Ada First United Methodist Church is extending an invitation to the community for a “Drive-Thru” Ash Wednesday observance. As you enter the car port from Highland Street, you will experience the significance of Ash Wednesday through scripture reading, prayer, the imposition of ashes, and a blessing, all from the comfort of your car. All are welcome
- “Drive-Thru Ashes” will be available from 11:30 a.m.-1p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
ABOUT ASH WEDNESDAY
Lent is a time when many Christians prepare for Easter by observing a period of fasting, repentance, moderation, and spiritual discipline.
The use of ashes, in the sign of a cross on one’s forehead, is a sign of mortality and repentance and has a long history in Jewish and Christian worship. Historically, ashes have signified purification and sorrow for one’s sins.
