Ada Electricity and gas aggregation program timing depends on the market
By Paula Pyzik Scott
In a presentation to Ada Council on March 18, Aspen Energy representatives Jay Sell and Ray Finnegan reported that they do not recommend moving forward immediately with creating electricity and gas aggregation programs due to current high rates.
They referenced a report from electric and gas supplier NRG that shows prices have gone up since aggregation approval by Ada voters in November 2024.
They recommended that council consider legislation that would allow the mayor to sign a contract with same-day notice.
The attached maps show communities with PUCO certificates to provide electric and gas aggregation.
The websites note, “Some communities with certificates may not have an active program. Aggregation is when a group of customers joins together to form a single, larger customer that buys energy for its members. The aggregated group may be able to secure a better price than the individual members could on their own.”
