Wednesday-Sunday hours of operation announced for beer garden, taproom, Armory dining room

The Old Route 69 Brewery, restaurant and entertainment complex first announced in February 2022 has come to life at 120 E Buckeye Ave. in Ada. On August 1, the venue officially opened with celebrations including Ada and Hardin County chambers as well as state and local government representatives. 

Ada High School chums Billy Watterson and Troy Erickson drafted and redrafted plans to convert the former Cole Motor Sales dealership and then the Armory building into a high concept bar and restaurant. The result is a road-trip themed business with a road sign-style logo, oversize garage doors and full-size car decor. The venue includes a 12,500 square foot beer and games garden, taproom with a large u-shaped bar and The Armory, a dining space with duck pin bowling, pool tables and darts.

The development is one of several “experiential venues” by Bluffton, SC-based Moon King Entertainment Group, of which Watterson is the CEO. In remarks at the ribbon cutting ceremony, Watterson said the project was a way to give back to the Ada community that had given him so much growing up. He commented, “Every project we do is an expression of us…. It’s been wild, it’s been rewarding.” For first time guests, he recommended that they explore: “There are so many opportunities to be entertained. It’s not just food and drink.”

Erickson said that if he had a dollar for every time he was asked when the brewery was opening, it would already be paid for. However, “that just shows the excitement of the community. I think people recognize the potential for Ada and Hardin County.” What makes Old Route 69 different? “It’s a destination. It’s family inclusive. We have something for everyone.” Erickson advised that guests should stay tuned for additional winter entertainment. 

The Old Route 69 Brewery kitchen is serving food by head cook Michael Allen, who has been locally known for his “Roundy’s” scratch-made pizza. Troy and Billy pies, as well as The Grizz are on the food menu. Push to Start (appetizers), Light Maintenance (salads), Thunderbirds (wings), Backroad Burgers, Speedway Sammies and Backseat Bowls round out the offerings.

Brews from Old Route 69 are being fine-tuned by head brewer John Novonty. In the meantime, a selection of regional guest drafts are on tap. Mixed drinks are also on the menu.

Hours of operation are Wednesday-Thursday: 4:00-9:00 p.m.; Friday-Saturday: 11:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m.; Sunday: 12:00-8:00 p.m.
