Letter: 2025 Dig for a Cure raises $2,602
Ada’s volleyball team held our annual Dig for a Cure event earlier this month on Monday, October 6 with Pandora Gilboa. Together, both teams raised a grand total of $2,602.
This year the money was divided in half to benefit a family member or friend from both teams. Half was donated to a Pandora Gilboa varsity team member’s mom who is battling breast cancer. The other half is being donated to Not By Choice Outreach in honor of Evanne Dunlap, a graduate from Ada in 2008, who has also been battling breast cancer.
A breakdown of our total amount raised includes $998 on raffle baskets, $391 at our bake sale, $90 on our serving game, $423 in donations during “Storm the Fans” and $700 on t-shirt sales. This grand total would not have been possible without the generous donations that we received from not only both teams and fans, but also our community.
We would like to give special thanks to many businesses in and surrounding our community for their generous donations. A huge thank you to Marathon, Tavern 101, Old Route 69 Brewery, Middlefield Bank, El Campo, Viva Maria’s, Jalapeños, Taco Bell, East of Chicago, Coopers, Liberty Oaks, Gibson Construction, Elite DTF Transfers and Sportswear, Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral Home and Forney Sales and Services. We greatly appreciate your generous monetary donations, gift cards, baskets, raffle items, pizza boxes, tacos and treats. Apollo’s Culinary Arts Center deserves a special shout-out as well for donating a generous amount of delicious baked goods year after year to our cause.
Along with business donations, we also had many donations from volleyball families from both teams. We are extremely thankful to be able to organize and participate in such a great event that brings our community and two schools together to raise money for such an important cause.
Thank You,
Coach Woodruff and Ada’s Volleyball Team
