Bulldog girls basketball stifles Lima Central Catholic

ADA – The Ada High School girls basketball team stymied Lima Central Catholic 37-19 in a defensive non-league battle on Tuesday, January 6.
The Bulldog girls jumped out to an 11-2 first-period lead and extended the margin to 24-9 at intermission.
Ada outscored LCC 13-10 in the second half to win going away by 18.
Bulldog freshman Te’a Griffith tallied 13 points, and Ada senior post Anna Conley netted 11 markers to pace the victors.
“We led start to finish,” said Ada head coach Zach Ricker. “It was a good team win.”
The Bulldogs improved to 8-6 overall after the home victory.
Lima Central Catholic fell to 2-8 with the road defeat.
Griffith tallied seven points in the second period to help Ada to a 13-7 advantage.
Five different Bulldogs scored in the opening stanza. Bulldog freshman guard Lucy Carter added six points.
The Bulldog girls connected on 16 two-point goals, drained no triples and converted five of eight free throws (63 percent).
Arionna Parrish led cold-shooting LCC with five points and one three-pointer, the only one either team made.
The Thunderbirds canned just six two-pointers, drilled one trey and sank four of five charity stripe tries (80 percent).
Ada improved to 3-4 at home with the win. The 19 points they held LCC to was their best defensive effort this season.
The Bulldog girls (2-3 BVC) put their two-game win streak on the line when they entertain league leader Liberty-Benton (9-3, 5-0 BVC) on Thursday, Jan. 8.
The Eagle girls had their five-game win streak snapped by Minster last Saturday, 35-33. Minster won the first period 13-4 and took the final period 13-8 to pull off the comeback road win. L-B controlled the middle stanzas, 21-9.
